Why dev-log

A daily standup you write for yourself.

We all forget what we shipped by Friday. dev-log keeps a factual, quiet record of it — for your retros, your team updates, or just the satisfaction of seeing how far you've come.

Every push, captured

Commits across all your repos — public, private and organization — squashed, rebased or just pushed.

PRs that tell the story

Opened, merged, reviewed — every pull request shows up with its state and its repo at a glance.

A summary written by Claude

Claude reads your day and distills it into a 2-to-4 sentence narrative at the top of the email — so you catch the essentials without re-reading your own diff.

Your hours, your timezone

Schedule up to 3 recaps a day, at any time in your timezone. End of day, after standup, or whenever you step back.

Encrypted by default

OAuth tokens are encrypted with AES-GCM at rest. Sessions are signed, cookies are HttpOnly.

Your entire history

Every recap lives in your dashboard. One-click JSON export, deletion on demand — your data stays yours.

What we capture

Six kinds of events. One clean recap.

We read each provider's activity feed, merge it by day, then hand it all to Claude for a short narrative at the top of the email.

How it works

Three minutes to set up. Zero to maintain.

  1. 01

    Connect GitHub

One-click OAuth. We never see your password and tokens are encrypted at rest.

  2. 02

    Choose your delivery times

One to three recaps a day, at any local time — 1pm, 6pm, midnight. Whatever fits your rhythm.

  3. 03

Each day, your inbox gets a short AI summary followed by the raw list of changes.

FAQ

The honest answers.

Do you access my private repos?
Yes, if you allow it when connecting: dev-log can read your private repos and your organizations' repos, for a truly complete recap. Your tokens are encrypted (AES-GCM) at rest and are only used to generate your recaps — never for anything else.
What about GitLab?
For now, dev-log connects to GitHub. GitLab support is in the works — the goal is to merge both sources into a single recap.
Am I going to be drowning in emails?
You decide: one to three recaps a day, at the times you set — and nothing on days with no activity. You can adjust all of this, or pause it, from the dashboard whenever you want.
What if I take a day off?
If you had no activity, we mark the recap as skipped and don't send an email. No message along the lines of "you did nothing today".
Where is my data stored?
PostgreSQL on infrastructure we control. OAuth tokens are encrypted with AES-GCM at rest, sessions are signed JWTs in HttpOnly cookies.
Can I export my history?
Yes — every recap lives in your dashboard. JSON export is one click away, and you can erase everything on demand.
How much does it cost?
The core of dev-log is free, forever: daily recap, AI summary, public, private and organization repos. An optional Premium at $5/month adds weekly & monthly recaps, trends, email designs, language choice and export. No card required to start, cancel anytime.
